Healthy and natural snack ideas that don’t require too much effort to prepare

It’s safe to say that most of us have almost been conditioned to think that healthy foods aren’t particularly tasty.  The overarching notion is that junk foods offer the most appealing flavor(s) in lieu of actual dietary benefits.  Dispel that from your mind immediately, there is a superabundance of healthy snack foods out there which are simply divine.  Furthermore, when you know the snacks you have on hand are good for you, there’s absolutely no post-binge guilt to speak of, this of course can help to create a positive mental feedback loop for some people who are either sensitive about their weight or perhaps dietary issues in general.  Anyway, here are some delicious and healthy snacks which are so tasty that they’ll likely replace many of your favorite unhealthy choices entirely…

Veggie and cheese plate with various dipping sauces

Not only are there plenty of excellent vegetables and cheeses to choose from, you can pretty much go wild with your choice of sauces and dressings.  Obviously tomatoes are a given, as are carrots and perhaps little spicy pepperoncini peppers, but you can also dip into other territories like mini sweet pickles as well as cooked portabella mushrooms (just use butter).   Likewise, classics like cucumbers, celery and broccoli are always welcome whether fresh and raw or slightly steamed.  Oh, and (on the cheese side of the equation), don’t forget simple items like string cheese, if you’re a dairy fan.

Dehydrated fruit pieces

Whether you own a dehydrator and are into making your own jerky and snacks or are just looking for something interesting to try on your next trip to the grocery store, dehydrated fruit is always a good idea.  Again, here you’ll find an assortment of things like pineapple, pears, peaches and even perhaps more exotic fruits which have been dehydrated in order to render them into an almost candy-like state.  However, unlike sweets, eating fruit provides direct health benefits.  Moreover, there’s always strawberries, which are utterly classic, amazingly delicious and are an excellent finger food.  Also, don’t forget about bananas in the morning, they’re great alone or chopped up in some cereal or oatmeal.

Yogurt

If you have a craving for ice cream, why not turn to yogurt instead?  Simply put, the healthier alternative to most frozen deserts helps to provide macrobiotic support for your digestive system, meaning you’re improving your body’s ability to function more efficiently in its duties while also treating yourself to a nice (perhaps frozen) dessert.  Additionally, yogurt comes in an extremely wide variety of flavors as well and is also “friendly” with strawberries, blueberries, etc…

Pecans and Almonds

Among all the various types of nuts out there, pecans and almonds are arguably two of the most healthy and delicious varieties in existence.  Pecans, as well as almonds are among the most “nutritionally packed” types of nut selections out there.  Improvements with regards to the circulatory system, metabolism as well as the brain have been observed when individuals make it a point to consume more pecans and/or almonds.  Moreover, both pecans and almonds are incredibly tasty as a snack food and are chock full of antioxidants.
